Title A name given to the resource Sydney Brenner Description An account of the resource The Sydney Brenner Collection consists of over 300 manuscript boxes of materials documenting the life and career of Dr. Sydney Brenner, co-recipient of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discoveries concerning genetic regulation of organ development and programmed cell death. The collections documents his early years as a student in South Africa, to his work as a scientist and administrator at the Medical Research Council (MRC), to his role in the biotechnology industry in the United Kingdom. The collection also includes material that belonged to Francis Crick and Leslie Barnett; the two shared offices with Brenner at the MRC beginning in the 1950s (Crick left in the mid-1970s and Barnett in the 1990s).
